Digital footprints in a layman’s terminology is the path that we take online while surfing through webpages, downloading apps or any other activity on internet. Mind you… details we leave online can be dangerous. Every single piece of information can be threatening depending on the person who can access it. Our social image or social rapport could be tossed around, misused and even abused.
Should we spend so much time online… many of us just kill time searching for newer things, we look for exciting apps, webpages and fill the small e-form without second thoughts. The more time we spend on social media, the larger is our digital footprint.
AI closely monitors our online as well as offline behaviours – the route we take to office, things we buy from departmental store, what tv programs we watch, how much we run or exercise. Fact is even our parents or spouse are not aware about us to this extent. Well how dark and deep it is we don’t know but it can definitely break us emotionally (cyber-bullying) and financially (phishing).
On the other hand, new employer who wants to know more than what’s written in the CV, they definitely will dig us through social media. Are we good there…?
Certain apps are designed in such a manner that they can track the user and gather all the details and start influencing his/her behavioural patterns.
We should be cautious about our digital footprints, its not dangerous all the time but it could be life-threatening sometimes.
